oh when the saints
i got an IM from my mom yesterday along the lines of have you told anyone about your sister’s game? and i wasn’t quite sure what that meant and who exactly i am supposed to tell.
so now, i am telling EVERYONE (or everyone who reads this!). i am SHOUTING IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS — my sister, who i am so proud of, plays in her conference bball tournament this afternoon. you can listen to it live on the internet at 2pm.
besides the fact that my sister’s team is playing for an AQ, the team that they are going up against is 27-0. for me to say that this game is HUGE is a HUGE understatement. this game is more than huge. this game is colossal.
this game is david & goliath, chaminade beating virginia, seabiscuit, and the 1980 miracle on ice. this is why we play. games like this, when you could easily say, let’s throw in the towel, but instead you play your guts out and are rewarded with the spoils of victory. people say, you were lucky, but you’ll know you just wanted it more.
and, my sister, who i am so proud of, has the potential to play an enourmous role in the saints victory and i have no doubts she is going to bring her a-game and be the intangible player she’s been for four years. there is no doubt in my mind that she will play her guts out. she just wants it that much.
i am so proud of my sister for the little things she’s always done — diving after lose balls, getting charges called, energizing her team with spirit.
i’m going to be listening to the game today, raptly, and regardless of the outcome, regardless of her line, the score, the cheers and tears, i am so proud of you, cynthia katherine.
go saints!
