the minute you stop caring what everyone thinks is the moment you truly begin to live.

i was as wet as i’ve ever been outside of a shower tonight. we danced in the rain — in the pouring, sopping downpour with the steel drums serenading us all the way.

the dance floor at the club is an open affair, it’s open to the stars, and when it’s not clouded over, shine down, and the breeze flits through.

tonight it rained. it rained on barbecue night which at the club is THE night. and what a travesty for those who had in mind to cut a rug!

my brother and i had in mind that, we would indeed break it down tonight — and in the middle of it all it began to pour. we endured, i tell you. we made it through the rain and the wet and i was wearing a white dress but didn’t care because THIS is what you do. this is what you do when you throw your head back and you drink in the moment and you own what you own and you DO what you DO.

i have been a shy person before and certainly i will be shy again but tonight i did the very thing i wanted to do (and that one can never regret or forget) — dance, sing, laugh in the rain.

i threw my head back and i lived.
