it’s [fill in the time] and i’m [fill in the activity]
earlier this week one of my cute little friends hi-jacked my iphone and posted a pair of status updates that made it look like i was doing ridiculous things (eating oysters, falling off my bike) at ridiculous times of the day (4 am, 5 am). despite the fact that there was a time stamp on both of these updates, a bunch of people made comments like – wow what a life you lead to be doing these silly things at such silly hours. the idea that i have a reputation for the ridiculous, that some how i could have transported to a timezone in the middle of the atlantic and that all that would be normal for me – like this is how *i* live – made me happy.
i know it’s silly – and this *is* just how i live – but i am often oblivious to the fact that this is not not how everyone lives. not everyone has stoop parties on mondays, yoga parties on tuesdays, dance parties on wednesdays. not everyone wakes up to cat kisses and sunshine through a octogan-shaped window or falls asleep in a loft under the largest norweigan maple in the cities. not everyone spends their days surrounded by some of the smartest people and their nights with some of the silliest. not everyone sits in a chair with love on the back and smiles at the thought of all of it. not everyone. just me.
so, as the eventful days and nights add up, i am further reminded how close the summer is to being over – and how much ridiculousness there is still to come.
a few, choice selections of the fun coming my, and if you are lucky your way, in the coming six-plus weeks:
- one epic bike ride to a small quaint town w/ bicycling studs
- two epic visits from best people (and drinkers) i know
- three endurance events (two triathlons & one 1/2)
- four days relaxing at lake barcroft
song of the day:
