2. purple violets – this movie is exclusively available on itunes and i am not sure why i paid $13.99 for it initially. like a lot of things i do on itunes, i’m sure it was impulse. i finally watched this independent flick with selma blair, debra messing, edward burns last night and it totally touched my heart.

i’m always on the lookout for coincidences and full circle moments, so it was all i could do when both the blue hens and the hurricanes were broadcast on basic cable in the same day not to think it was completely and utterly fated.

maybe, if both teams had won, i would have a better chance convincing the world that sometimes even the littlest, dumbest things happen for a reason. instead, all i convinced kristen of is that i am obnoxious and boring when i am nostalgic (apparently it is NOT that interesting where i used to sit at the games).

because of the games, all my plans of having a productive day were abandoned. instead of laundry and tidying, i ate eggs, drank beer, watched basketball and football and very vaguely, for a very short time went to the gym.

it was one of those times where it seems like sunday is stretching out forever and you can’t possibly fill it with enough laziness and then, all of a sudden, it’s midnight and monday looms.

and monday is speeding by. i have a full, crazy week of (you guessed it!) home basketball game. cross your fingers that i make it to sunday.

movie you should queue: kinky boots

i saw batman begins at the imax yesterday, my first real movie of the summer. it was excellent and it was v. neat seeing a feature film on an imax screen. christian bale is also hott stuff. he has definitely beefed up since american psycho and matured from his little women days.

the weekend is about 45 minutes from beginning. i am so jittery it’s not even funny. i just can’t stop tapping my foot to the beat of hanson, lifehouse & rascal flatts. the brains and i are rocking out in the office since the big big boss left.

peterbrown and i are going to kick off the weekend with a monster mountain bike ride assuming a) it doesn’t rain and b) i make it back from work a bicyclette today without dying or getting monsooned on. then tonight we check out meadowmuffins. the redhead and i have been talking about this bar for a while so it better live up to expectations!

all is still very kosher out here. after hiking on all day saturday, we tried to check out the scene downtown in the springs but it was a rainy day so we didn’t find much crazy activity. however, that didn’t stop my roommate (linzz) and from throwing back a few long islands.

it was still raining on sunday and our plans to have a field day/wiffle ball where somewhat thwarted. we did finally get outside in the late afternoon and played one of the lamest games in wiffle ball history with me being one of the lamest players ever. if we ever play again i may be reduced/forced to bust out my glasses. i’ve been bad so far out here and haven’t worn them once!

sunday eve was lazy in a good way. peterbrown and i proved once again that we are each other’s alter egos and complete and utter geniuses as we ALMOST finished the sunday nytimes crossword puzzle. i think it took us like 2 hours but we put in about 95% of the answers before looking at the answers and got most of it right. it was a tough one and i learned some new words like seraglio and gest.

post-crossword we watched napoleon dynamite. now i know what all the hype was about. it was quite possibly the most ridiculously retardly entertaining movie i have ever seen. it is completely mindless so it was a nice complement to the strenuous cwp. best line to me is the milk line: “i see you’re drinking 1%. is that ’cause you think you’re fat? ’cause you’re not. you could be drinking whole if you wanted to.”

and on that note, i am about to have a hott lunch date with the chauffeur.

lizzie & i have planned the first-ever women’s basketball alumnae game @ w&l. we sent out groovy “always a general” postcards and hopefully if i can stop being retarded about it, we will have a mini-website too. this whole thing is pretty exciting. we’ve been talking about having a game for nearly two years, so it is good that we are finally getting our asses in gear!

i am also pretty excited for the month of may. ok, not the beginning bc that will be finals etc, but the final three weeks are going to be fab. not only are we having an alumnae game, but we are having it during alumnae weekend in lex vegas, which means that i am going to be in one of my favorite places on earth for 3days/3nights. and we can relive our glory days. also, some may highlights include my trip to NYC with mom to take yoga from guruji (aka Sri K. Pattabhi Jois–the founder of the ashtanga method!!) from may 14-18. then there is lex…then there is faceoff philly aka laxtasticism with lizzie over memorial day weekend.

i watched the movie “Jack and Sarah” on this one tv/eliptical combo in the gym that get hbo, cinemax, and sho. “Jack and Sarah” is a pseudo-drama from the mid-90s with samantha mathis and judi dench, among others. it’s an endearing story about a guy (jack) who’s wife dies during childbirth, and his baby (sarah) who lives. this is the
2nd time i’ve watched it, and it’s nothing award-winning, just a nice story.

song in my mental rotation: mazzy star “fade into you”…i’m gonna make a little-known, rarely-heard, but still good songs CD (i.e. songs that i think rock that i am not sure if you have heard before)…if you want one…post me a comment and i’ll get you a lil somethin’ somethin’.
